English Information

Dear Athletes

The 19th hella hamburg half marathon promises to once again be a spectacular sporting event for Hamburg. As one of the “pure” half marathon races in Germany, this classic city race leads past numerous Hamburg tourist attractions and is considered to be the fastest of the German summer half marathon races. The start will take place at 10 a.m. on the four-lane Reeperbahn, accompanied by the sound of samba drums, while the skaters will head out on the course half an hour earlier. Our shuttle buses will bring you from the race number distribution site at the event centre at the Rothenbaum Tennis Stadium (finish) to the start, or you may take the metro there (U3: St. Pauli). You will tour Hamburg from a new perspective: past the traditional Altona fish market, back past the enthusiastic spectators along the Reeperbahn, St. Pauli piers, the main train station, along the Aussenalster waterfront and from there down Rothenbaumchaussee to the finish. Hamburg’s local television station, Hamburg 1, will be broadcasting live, and we will celebrate together with you with sausage and beer and live music.

The third number is to be applied to your clothing pack. That will help us with the drop-off, transport and pickup of your gear. Please insure that your number can be clearly seen. They are non-transferable.

Pacemakers

Any participants who are interested in becoming pacemakers for the half marathon course as an orientation help for the following finishing times – 1:30 h, 1:45 h, 2:00 h – should let the organiser know by March 31, 2013 at the latest (info@hamburg-halbmarathon.de). These runners may participate in the half marathon competition free of cost and will receive a free technical shirt.

Timekeeping System for Skaters

Times will be measured exclusively with the Aktiv-Chip. All participants will receive a chip (to be returned) with their race number. This chip must be attached with hook and loop to the ankle and must be returned immediately at the finish when you receive your medal. Any lost or not returned chip will be invoiced for 90 Euro. If your chip is not attached correctly, it could cause your time not to be kept. Without a chip, no timekeeping is possible! The individual timekeeping for skating is the gross time (gun time) according to the DRIV regulations. The net time is reported as an additional service, which will be listed in the skating results.

Timekeeping System for Runners

Timekeeping for runners is carried out through a chip system. Please see the information in your race materials.

Rankings

There will be individual and team rankings for men and women.

Team registration is not necessary. This will be calculated according to the top three times of participants from a team / running group, regardless of the age group.

The individual rankings for the running event will be determined by gross times with notification of the official net time and net ranking, according to the prescribed competition regulations (Rule 240 IWB). The team rankings (running) are determined by the net time, according to regulations by the German Athletics Association (DLV).

The awards ceremonies will take place starting at about noon at the event centre (Veranstaltungszentrum) Rothenbaumchaussee. Every properly registered participant who finishes will receive a commemorative medal at the finish line.
